About
Description
A SHA-256 hash of a phone number in MSISDN form: country code followed by the national significant number, digits only, with no leading plus sign, spaces, or punctuation. For US numbers this is 11 digits beginning with 1 - e.g. the SHA-256 of '12127855334'. The hash is lowercase hexadecimal, 64 characters.
MSISDN is the ITU-T E.164 number itself; the leading '+' commonly seen alongside it comes from E.123 presentation notation and is not part of the number. Despite the term's origin in mobile numbering, this attribute applies to any full international subscriber number, landline included.
Distinct from sha256_hashed_phone_number (259), which hashes the '+'-prefixed form, and from sha256_hashed_phone_number_nsn (369), which hashes the national significant number with no country code. Hashes produced under those conventions will not join against this attribute.
Produced in NQL as SHA2(REPLACE(NORMALIZE_PHONE('E164', phone, 'US'), '+', ''), 256), substituting the appropriate default country code.
